Dear Glenwood Families,
During the month of February, Glenwood is participating in the Kind Mind Mental Health Challenge sponsored by the Kelty Foundation. Each week teachers will show a video in class addressing the 4 different themes that are covered by the program. Our students have all received a booklet with activities to be completed with a family member at home. The activities reinforce what was covered at school and help make sure families are part of the program. We are very excited to be part of this program and believe that it will be beneficial to students and families.
We will be having a parent information night on Thursday, February 5 at 7pm. This 1-hour interactive session explores how anxiety and big emotions impact the brain, body and behaviours. Participants will gain practical tools for supporting both child and parent well-being. Attached to this email is a description of the workshop and a bio of the presenter. We have also Included a link to a form for parents to fill out so we know how many parents will be attending. https://forms.office.com/r/s2pV51NUC4?origin=lprLink
The program will go for 4 weeks with a new challenge each week. The month of positive mental health activities finishes with a dance to celebrate what we have been learning. Our Confi’dance will be on March 4. More information to follow. We are grateful for PAC support with this program and the dance.
I have attached the link for our kind Mind challenge. It includes links to the videos as well as several other resources we and families can access. I have also included information about the presentation on Thursday night.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Heather Skuse
