It was a very exciting day for many Glenwood students, staff and parent volunteers as they participated in a chum salmon release at Byrne Creek on April 21st. The students and accompanying adults released 25,000 chum smolts. These chum came from Kanaka Creek hatchery in Maple Ridge, from eggs produced last October/November and were brought to us by our Community Advisor from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). It can expected that these fish will return to Byrne Creek as adults/spawners in October/November 2025. What a fabulous experience for everyone!
